"Just upload the PDF to ChatGPT" is the advice on every trade forum — and for a quick question about a small manual, it's good advice. Here's an honest look at where it stops being enough.
Credit where due: ChatGPT is remarkable, you may already pay for it, and it knows things your manuals don't — general electronics, a hunch about a symptom, how to phrase something for a customer. If you fix something different every week and mostly need a smart second opinion, ChatGPT plus an uploaded PDF may be all you need. We'd rather tell you that than waste your time.

Try your hardest question in both. Take the biggest, ugliest service manual you own and ask something specific — a part number for a subassembly, the torque spec on page 1,400, the remedy for an error code. If ChatGPT nails it reliably, keep your $19. If you get summaries where you needed the exact page — that's the gap we built for.
